Everyday I wake up with the same feeling…feeling of not
going to the office.
I don’t think I am the only one with this feeling. Almost
90% of us think our job is the worst. Is the job that bad? Or we are just awful
people who want money for free?
Neither is the job that bad nor do we want money without
rubbing our asses off.
The problem is we are in the wrong job. Ask yourself, if you
ever wanted to have the job profile you have?
Most people would answer, no.
Why?
If you never liked your job profile, why are you there? because you rushed into things. You never
took time to do what you wanted.
I see my friends who were in the lower rung during school or
college happier with their lives. Why is it so?
Those people never got through the toughest competitive exams.
They never got jobs in first place. So they had to wait. They had to do what
they did best to make a living. Or they had to study a little more to hone what
they were good at. And today, they do what they always wanted or at least they
liked.
What we did?
We were among the good ones…who always were good at
studies…who never wanted to wait for anything.
We wanted to get in the best college…we wanted to get a job
on the first day of placement. And we did.
Because we wanted to get into the best college, we never
looked for what branch we wanted to opt for. Because we wanted job on the first
day, we tried hard t get into the dream company, but never cared for the role
it offered, just because we were in a hurry.
And now, we are trapped in a situation where we never wanted
to be…we hate our jobs…we recall those days of past when life was like we
wanted it to be…blame the situation.
And a common piece of advice given to the people suffering
from this syndrome is “switch your job”, “study further to change your stream
to what you like”. In short, do what those less intelligent children of your
class did then.
I never say that one should never switch jobs or not study
further. But switching jobs should be to rise in your stream. Studying should
be to hone your skill set.
I am in such a situation and I believe I will someday do
what I always wanted. But for all those guardians who want their kids to be
terrific in studies, be champions in everything, one piece of free advice I
want to give, “please don’t rush…because your child’s career is what he/she
will have to serve for the rest of his /her life…let him/her take time to be
what he/she wants to be. Life is a journey to a destination…let the journey be
beautiful. Don’t rush …you might meet an accident.”
